今日は、出演させていただいたゴッホの映画”VAN GOGH & JAPAN”の公開日。

奇遇にも、映画の公開日にゴッホの出生地であるオランダのゴッホ美術館に来ることができて、なんだかとても嬉しいです。
ゴッホが日本の浮世絵に影響を受けたことはとても有名な話。
ゴッホが浮世絵の模写をした作品の現物を見て驚いたのは、彼が書いた漢字は、書き順はともあれ、二度書きせずに一画ずつひと筆で書いていることでした。彼の書を見る眼力もさることながら、1100点以上のスケッチが残っているゴッホの賜物であるような気もしました。
The film will not be shown in Japan but will be released in many countries around the world.
Unexpectedly and happily, on the day of the film’s release I found myself at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam in Van Gogh’s homeland, the Netherlands. Famously, Van Gogh took inspiration from Japan’s “Ukiyoe”. When I looked at one of the originals he had made, a copy of an “Ukiyoe” work, what surprised me, the incorrect stroke order apart, was the way in which he wrote each character in a single stroke. In addition to the work paying testimony to his powers of visual appreciation, it also forms a part of the extraordinary treasure of over 1,100 sketches which he left.
